Present Giving at Present

This year Thanksgiving and Channukah gave rise to a hybrid Thanknukah. If your family celebrated Channukah and Thanksgiving then you gave Channukah presents to the children when you lit the candles and afterwards had your Thanksgiving dinner. Giving presents at Channukah has escalated, in my lifetime, from the simplicity of giving Channukah Gelt, a nominal amount of money with which to play the Dreidel game, (gambling on the fall of a spinning top), to the expectation of a largess of toys, due to the proximity of Xmas. Might there be a fear that present giving will be glued to Thanksgiving from now on?
